Friends of Millis Council on Aging, Inc. (FCOA) is a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting the Millis Council on Aging through fundraising, community engagement, and advocacy for our town's senior citizens.
Mission Statement
The objective of this non-profit organization shall be to render a program of service to institute fundraising projects for items not provided by the Town of Millis or the State of Massachusetts.
Vision Statement
Our vision is to cultivate a thriving and inclusive community where seniors are supported through enriching programs and essential resources. Through dedicated fundraising efforts, we aspire to create opportunities that enhance the well-being for seniors.
Your donations help to support Friends of Millis COA in the following ways:
- In 2024, donor funds were essential in enabling the Friends to help in the purchase of a new car providing transportation to medical appointments, grocery shopping and COA activities.
- In 2025, The Friends voted to reduce Trip Prices to the first 25 people signed up, ensuring that the trip will be a "GO".
- In 2026, your generous donations will be used to renovate the all-purpose coffee room gathering space to make it more comfortable and welcoming for all.
Friends also:
- Pay Postage for the monthly Millis Council on Aging Coalition Newsletters.
- Support Exercise classes and annual equipment maintenance in the fitness room (treadmills, stationary bikes, elliptical machine and hydraulic circuit).
- Support Holiday Luncheons and monthly Pizza and Prevention with the Millis Fire Department.
- Fund the "Stitch and Sew" group whose Teddy Bears are distributed to charity groups, police and fire departments throughout the region.
- A quilt was stitched together from donated materials by a group of seniors and was raffled off as a fundraiser for Millis Friends of COA group.
- Educational and Historical presentations
- PC and Tech Time help
- Games: Mahjong, Cribbage, Canasta, RUMMIKUB, and Bingo
- "Crafty Ladies" whose talented creations are included in Meals on Wheels to brighten the recipient's day.
- Paint classes
